Mellen Air has an exclusive patented design which has revolutionized the low air loss industry. Our one piece design contains the blower (not pump) and electromechanical controls for the unit. Every Rem-Air® mattress comes as a complete unit, and has no external pumps, hoses or switches.
Our experience in the low air loss industry lead Mellen Air Manufacturing to design a bed that has no external parts. Why? Well, for a few excellent reasons.
Why No Hose and Pump?
Pumps by nature must work harder than a fan system to create positive airflow. The Rem-Air® uses a blower which runs quietly, and draws little current. And, when you don't have a pump, you don't need hoses to direct the air. By not having external devices to hang on the foot of the bed, your staff can freely move about your patient without getting tangled up in hoses and cords.
No Holes in the Fabric?
With Rem-Air® mattresses, we manufacture the plenum with continuous pieces of cloth. We stitch the plenums especially for low air loss mattresses, so air flows through the seams. By not punching holes in the fabric (as many of our competitors do), the plenum will last longer -- as will your bed investment. And, don't worry -- the Rem-Air gently flows healing air to the patient, providing proven relief for pressure ulcers.
Where are the controls?
The blower and control systems reside in the foot of the bed. Just lift the Velcro ® flap, turn the dial to the correct pressure setting, and your Rem-Air® mattress is ready to use. Put the Velcro flap down, and your mattress looks, well, like a mattress, without large pumps or hoses to restrict or encumber your attendants.
