Q: What sets our low air loss mattresses apart from competitors?

A: Mellen Air's patented one-piece design means the blower (we don't use pumps – blowers are more efficient) and comfort controls are in the mattress.  Rem-Air® mattresses send air through the seams, not through holes poked through the fabric, which prolongs the life of the mattress. Every Rem-Air® replacement mattress is made in the USA, from washable, durable materials designed for comfort and reliability. Set up takes only a few minutes, and full inflation takes approximately 20 seconds. 

Q: Describe the Rem-Air®warranty.

A: Our limited five (5) year warranty protects all the electro-mechanical parts. Our blower, controls and electrical system.   Our 90 day warranty protects the rest of the mattress, and we perform all warranty work here in our Long Beach, CA factory.

Q: How do you set up and maintain a Rem-Air®Mattress?

A: The Rem-Air®mattress comes to you ready to use. Just attach the Velcro straps to the bed frame, plug in the power cord, and turn the comfort setting to the correct level. We have a video of the inflation, but it’s pretty quick, so don’t blink. Once a month, just change the charcoal filter, which takes all of ten seconds (see picture above), to give your patients fresh air, and keep your beds in warranty. And, please do not reuse filters by rinsing them out, moisture will get in the motor. Rinsing filters to reuse and not purchasing filters to change once a month will void the warranty.

Q: How much do your Rem-Air®Mattresses cost?

A: When discussing the “cost” of an item, think of three factors: price, quality, and customer service. Most products can only have two of these three factors positive. For instance, a low-cost, high quality item probably doesn’t provide you the best customer service if there’s a problem. Or, if a product has great quality and superb customer service, be prepared to spend some extra money. But, at Mellen Air, we manufacture a great quality product, backed by the industry best 5 year warranty and a great customer service department – at a competitive price. Not the lowest price, but definitely competitive. So remember – if you want the lowest price, expect a decrease in quality or service.

Q: What codes do I use for insurance billing?

A: Group II patients, E0277.  Bariatric Patients, diagnostic code 278. Also, all our mattresses are compliant with Technical Bulletin 603 (TB-603) to meet or exceed California fire retardant standards.
